Arsenal will try their luck for the fourth time in attempting to sign England international Michael Carrick this summer, according to the Daily Mirror.
The Premier League side, who currently sit third in the standings and two points off top spot following Sunday’s 2-1 victory over leaders Leicester City, have been long-term admirers of the Manchester United midfielder.
The 34-year-old, who has 33 international caps for the Three Lions, has made 25 appearances in all competitions for Louis van Gaal’s Red Devils so far this season.
Carrick, who is set to become a free agent this summer once his current deal at Old Trafford expires, will become a top transfer target for Gunners boss Arsene Wenger once more.
The Frenchman was first interested in signing the Englishman when he left West Ham for Tottenham back in 2004, again when Carrick decided to leave Spurs for United just two years later and most previously as of last summer before he penned a new one-year extension with the Red Devils.
However the report also suggests that defending Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain could also be interested in Carrick’s services come June.
