Goals from Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson earned Chelsea an important victory over struggling Sheffield United on Saturday.

The duo both netted after the break to earn Mauricio Pochettino’s side a crucial three points, and in doing so mark the first time in 2023 that the Blues have won successive home Premier League games.

It also moves Chelsea up to tenth in the top flight table, however the Argentine will be desperate to see his side build on the win heading into the busy festive schedule.

In the meantime, a French club are reportedly chasing one of Chelsea’s defenders.

According to Foot Mercato via The Express, Lyon are hopeful of signing Benoit Badiashile during the upcoming January transfer window.

The report claims that the Ligue 1 giants, who are enduring a difficult campaign, are hopeful of signing the Frenchman on loan for the remainder of the current season.

Badiashile has attracted interest from French side Lyon

Badiashile, 22, joined Chelsea from fellow French side Monaco in January this year, and has since made 16 appearances for the Blues.

The France international missed several weeks at the start of the season due to injury, but has since reestablished himself as a key player for Pochettino.

The Frenchman has started four of Chelsea’s last five league matches, despite facing competition from the likes of Thiago Silva, Levi Colwill, and former Monaco teammate Axel Disasi.

Despite his importance to Chelsea at present, the report claims that Lyon boast a strong relationship with their Premier League counterparts and are therefore hopeful of agreeing a deal.

Last year, the two clubs negotiated the transfer of full-back Malo Gusto in a deal that saw the player stay put in France for half of last season.
