Fulham are reportedly hopeful of re-signing midfielder Steve Sidwell from Stoke City during the January transfer market.

The Championship side, who currently sit six points above the bottom four after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, want to take the former England Under-21 international on loan for the remainder of the 2015-16 campaign.

The 33-year-old, who only left the Cottagers for the Potters back in June 2014, has made just three first-team appearances for Mark Hughes’ side so far this season.

In fact Sidwell; who came through the youth academy at Arsenal, hasn’t featured for Stoke since late-September, ironically against Fulham in their 1-0 League Cup victory.

The ex-Reading, Chelsea and Aston Villa central midfielder was Fulham’s top goalscorer during the 2013-14 season with seven goals, although he couldn’t help the Craven Cottage outfit avoid relegation from the English top-flight that year.
