Manchester United have reportedly been handed a boost in their attempts to sign Wales international superstar Gareth Bale this summer, according to Diario Gol.

The Premier League side, who face Ajax in the 2017 UEFA Europa League final on Wednesday night, have been linked with a mega money move to bring the Real Madrid forward back to the English top-flight ahead of the 2017-18 campaign.

The 27-year-old, who has 66 international caps for The Dragons, has scored nine goals and provided five assists in 26 appearances in all competitions for the La Liga champions this season.

Bale, who left Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur for the Bernabeu back in September 2013 for a world record £85m fee, has netted 67 times in 149 games overall for Zinedine Zidane’s side – winning the Spanish top-flight title, two UEFA Champions League crowns, the UEFA Super Cup, the FIFA Club World Cup and the Copa del Rey.

However, the report suggests the Welshman’s agent, Jonathan Barnett, is threatening that Bale will quit Madrid if he is not ‘treated as the club’s star man’.

The winger faces a race against time to be fit to face Juventus in the Champions League final next month in Cardiff due to a calf injury.
