Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag will have been frustrated with his side’s performance as they were beaten 2-0 by Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

The Red Devils were outclassed by Spurs in North London, and Ten Hag will be hoping that his side show improvement when they welcome Nottingham Forest to Old Trafford on Saturday.

In the meantime, it appears that United could be closing in on another summer signing.

According to The Athletic, goalkeeper Atlay Bayindir has undergone medical tests ahead of a proposed move to Manchester United.

The 25-year-old currently plays for Turkish Super Lig giants Fenerbahce but United are considering signing him to provide competition for Andre Onana, the report claims.

Bayindir is said to be undergoing medical tests in Athens as United look for replacements for Dean Henderson.

Henderson is expected to depart Old Trafford before the transfer window shuts, with Crystal Palace currently said to be his most likely destination.

Bayindir could become the second goalkeeper to join Manchester United this summer

With that in mind, United are considering a move for Bayindir to complete with Onana, who joined from Inter Milan last month, and Tom Heaton.

United are said to be concerned about a possible back injury that the Turkey international may be carrying but, if happy with his fitness, could choose to proceed with a £4.25 million move for the player.

Bayindir joined Fenerbahce from fellow Turkish club Ankaragucu back in 2019 and has since made 145 appearances for his current club, keeping 44 clean sheets across all competitions.

Last term the ‘keeper played 40 times across all competitions, and he has so far kept two clean sheets in four appearances this summer.

The Turk made his senior international debut for his country back in May 2021 and has now been capped five times at international level.
