Manchester United have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Ajax winger Antony, with the closure of the transfer window fast approaching.

As reported by Goal, the Brazilian is prepared to push for a move to Old Trafford in the final days of the window.

The 22-year-old has been targeted by United for much of the summer, with Erik ten Hag keen on a reunion with a player who scored ten goals and provided 12 assists for his Ajax side last term.

The report claims that the nine-time Brazil international has decided that he doesn’t want to wait any longer to take the next step in his career.

He was not part of the Ajax squad that travelled to face Sparta on Sunday, and it is also claimed that the winger has missed training sessions with the club.

Antony is keen to push through a move to Manchester United

According to the report, the player’s absence was a deliberate move by his representatives to attempt to push through a move to the Premier League.

Initially, the Dutch side were holding out for £65 million for the ex-Sao Paolo man, but Goal now claim that the Eredivisie champions have increased their asking price to £85 million.

After a disastrous start to the campaign, United have already moved to sign Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro, and could now turn their attention back to Antony.

Having joined Ajax in 2020, Antony has scored 24 goals and provided 22 assists in 82 matches for the club.
