Ilkay Gundogan believes Manchester City’s star striker Sergio Aguero will never play for another European football club, according to the Mirror.

The Premier League side, who dropped to third in the top-flight standings at the weekend following their frustrating 1-1 draw at home to newly promoted Middlesbrough at the Etihad Stadium, have reaped the benefits of the forward’s goalscoring form this term.

The 28-year-old has scored a remarkable 14 goals and provided one assist in 15 appearances in all competitions so far this season, including the Citizens’ opener against Boro on Saturday.

Aguero’s goalscoring exploits this campaign have reportedly attracted La Liga giants Real Madrid, though team-mate Gundogan predicts the Argentine ace will not play for another European club, and instead retire with Independiente in his homeland.

The Germany international said, “I think he will stay here. I have no doubt about that

“He’s very good. Sergio, he’s just a goal machine. I mean if he has the chances to score then 90–95 per cent of the time he will score.

“If you know you have such a player in your team then you know that you are always able to score and will always create your chances.

“Sergio is extremely important for us and while he didn’t score against Barcelona in our Champions League win he worked a lot and ran a lot and just tried to keep every ball for us.”
