Manchester United begin their Premier League campaign with a game against Wolves at Old Trafford on Monday.

The Red Devils finished third last season and won the Carabao Cup, as well as reaching the final of the FA Cup.

Manager Erik ten Hag will have been pleased with his first campaign in charge at Old Trafford, but the Dutchman will also undoubtedly be hoping to challenge for the title this time around.

Andre Onana, Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund have been added to Ten Hag’s squad, while a number of players including David de Gea and Alex Telles have left the club.

Another player that is expected to depart United this summer is Harry Maguire, but it appears that the Red Devils are holding up the defender’s departure.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, United have accepted a £30 million offer for Maguire from West Ham United, but the Manchester club are keen to find a replacement before allowing the player to leave.

Maguire looks set to join West Ham in the coming weeks

Maguire, 30, became the most expensive defender in history when United paid £80 million to sign him from Leicester City back in 2018.

The Englishman had impressed for the Foxes and enjoyed a strong start to life in Manchester, but his form has dipped over the past few seasons and he ultimately lost his starting spot at Old Trafford.

Last term, the England international made 31 appearances across all competitions but was limited to just eight Premier League starts, with Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof all preferred by Ten Hag.

Left-back Luke Shaw – an international teammate of Maguire – was also selected in central defence ahead of Maguire on occasion.

Maguire has less than two years remaining on his current contract at United, something that is perhaps reflected in the transfer fee that has been agreed between the two clubs.
