Liverpool start their Europa League campaign in Bordeaux, hoping to do better than they did in Europe last season.

Their Champions League journey came to an abrupt end as they finished third in the group stages, before they were knocked out by Besiktas on penalties in the knockout phase of the Europa League.

Despite losing the talismanic Steven Gerrard during the summer, Brendan Rodgers has added to his squad with the signings of Nathaniel Clyne, James Milner and Christian Benteke, among others, and will be hoping for a more fruitful campaign abroad this term.

They face a stern opener though, as they travel to the Ligue 1 outfit who finished in the same position as Liverpool did, sixth, in the 2014-15 standings.

Both sides have made below-par starts to the current season, but Tunisia international midfielder Wahbi Khazri has stood out for the hosts, and he will come up against, arguably, the Merseyside outfit’s key attacking player, Philippe Coutinho, on Thursday night.

Here’s how the duo’s stats match-up so far this term…..
