How Manchester Untied could have looked if Jose Mourinho was able to sign the players he desperately needed, according to the Daily Star.

There was high hopes for United fans when one of the world’s best managers Jose Mourinho took over from Louis Van Gaal back in the summer of 2016.

After delivering both the EFL Cup and Europa league trophy in his first season, things were looking like they could get back on track for the once-great club, but unfortunately United were unable to kick on from there.

A lot of tension during the Portuguese man’s tenure was Ed Woodward failing to bring the signings Mourinho desperately craved to the club.

The Daily Star took a look at the five failed-signings that could have made all the difference to Mourinho with United.

Varane is quite possible, one of the best centre backs in Europe and certainly was at the time Mourinho was keen to sign him. The now World Cup winner was still playing second fiddle to Sergio Ramos and there were rumours he wanted to leave Madrid. Unfortunately for Mourinho he didn’t get his man and always seemed to struggle with a centre back pairing.
