Jonny Howson has been linked with a move back to Leeds United.

According to a report in the Yorkshire Evening Post the Norwich midfielder has rejected a new contract to extend his stay at Carrow Road.

Howson quit Leeds for Premier League Norwich back in 2012 but is now understood to be wanting to return to the north of the country with his young family.

Whether the north is Leeds, Middlesbrough or Sunderland remains to be seen with Leeds believed to be keen to bring the midfielder back to the club.

Howson’s career has been split almost 50-50 between Leeds and Norwich with the appointment of a replacement for Garry Monk critical in deciding his next move.

With two years still to run on his Carrow Road contract Howson won’t be sold on the cheap but with Norwich looking to cut their costs it’s important that players on Premier League contracts are moved on.
