Liverpool will hope to move back to the top of the Premier League by beating Arsenal at The Emirates on Sunday.

The Reds have topped the table for much of the early stages of the campaign, but they were knocked off the summit by Manchester City after their 1-0 win against Southampton on Saturday.

Liverpool boss Arne Slot has enjoyed a successful start to his tenure at Anfield, with his side losing just once across all competitions so far.

Now, though, the Merseyside club app0ear to have been dealt a huge blow.

As per Football Insider, full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold isn’t expected to sign a new deal with the club.

The 26-year-old is currently in the final year of his deal, and he could therefore sign a pre-contract with any foreign club in January.

Liverpool are working hard to agree an extension with the England international, but the defender has been heavily linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid and the report suggests that he is likely to agree a move to the Spanish capital.

Alexander-Arnold is a product of Liverpool’s youth academy and has already played over 320 times for the Merseyside giants across all competitions.

He has scored 19 goals in that time, as well as registering 83 assists.

The report also says that Liverpool could even make the shock decision to sell the right-back during the upcoming January window, in an effort to cash in on him and avoid losing him for free at the end of the season.

Real are on the hunt for a right-sided full-back after Dani Carvajal suffered a likely season-ending injury.
