Manchester United will hope to get their season back on track when they face struggling Everton on Saturday.

The Red Devils have been inconsistent so far this season and have lost their last two Premier League games, most recently when succumbing to a 3-1 defeat against rivals Manchester City at The Etihad.

Consecutive losses have left Erik ten Hag’s side sixth in the top flight table and they now sit 11 points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa in the race for Champions League qualification.

Ten Hag will therefore be desperate to see his side return to winning ways against a Toffees side that are winless in ten league games.

Off the pitch, United have been handed yet another blow in the transfer market.

Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel, who was. a target for United, has signed a new contract with the German club.

Tel has committed his long-term future to Bayern Munich

The Bundesliga champions announced on Wednesday afternoon that the young striker had signed an extension, keeping him at the club until 2029.

Tel, 18, joined Bayern from French side Rennes in the summer of 2022 and made 28 appearances during his first season in Bavaria.

This term the France youth international has played 31 times already across all competitions, scoring seven goals and providing four assists.

The vast majority of his appearances have been as a substitute with just one Bundesliga start to his name so far this term, primarily due to Harry Kane’s sensational form since joining the club last summer.

The teenager had been linked with a move to Old Trafford as United search for a new striker this summer, despite signing Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta last year.

United will now have to look elsewhere for attacking reinforcements, though, with Tel having committed his long-term future to the German giants.
