Premier League title contenders Arsenal travel to face Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon.

Mikel Arteta’s side currently sit second in the top flight table after five matches and, having finished as runners-up in the past three seasons, the Spaniard will be desperate to go one better this time around.

Ahead of their trip to St. James’ Park, it has emerged that Arsenal could soon be handed a huge boost.

As per GiveMeSport, forward Bukayo Saka is keen to sign a new contract with the North London giants.

A product of Arsenal’s youth system, Saka has now played more than 260 times for the club across all competitions.

The England international missed two of the Gunners’ Premier League games in recent weeks due to injury, but made his return against Manchester City last Sunday and also featured against Port Vale in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.

Saka’s current contract with his boyhood club is set to run until the end of the 2026/27 season, but the report claims that the Englishman is keen to put pen-to-paper on a lengthy new deal.

The winger’s current deal is said to earn him £195,00-per-week, and the player has told his current employers that he is keen to sign a new contract.

It is claimed that the club’s sporting director, Andrea Berta, is confident that n agreement can be reached easily with Saka, who has established himself as one of the best players in the Premier League in recent years.

Arsenal are said to have earmarked Saka’s contract as their next priority after agreeing an extension with defender William Saliba.
