Leaders Liverpool return to Premier League action on Wednesday night when they face rivals Everton in the Merseyside derby.

The match was originally scheduled to take place in December but was postponed, with the final ever Merseyside derby at Everton’s Goodison Park stadium now set to take place on Wednesday evening.

Victory for the Reds will see them move nine points clear at the top of the Premier League standings, as Arne Slot’s side move closer to the title.

Everton, meanwhile, have improved since David Moyes returned to the club last month and the Toffees will likely provide a stern test for Slot’s side.

Off the pitch, it appears that Liverpool have been handed a boost with one of their most important players keen to stay put at Anfield.

According to CaughtOffside, Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah is keen to stay put at the club despite ongoing uncertainty surrounding his future.

The Egyptian is one of three key players – alongside Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold – that are currently in the final months of their respective contracts.

Salah is said to be prioritising a new contract with Liverpool

Speculation surrounding the futures of all three players has been rife, but the report claims that Salah’s priority at present is to agree a new contract with his current club.

Salah, 32, joined the Reds from Italian side AS Roma in 2017 and has since made 383 appearances for the Merseyside outfit across all competitions, scoring 237 goals and providing 106 assists.

The Egypt international has been particularly impressive this term, registering a combined 44 goals and assists.

He has been the subject of interest from clubs in the Saudi Pro League over the past couple of seasons, but the report suggests that the player himself is intent on staying put at Anfield.

It is claimed that Liverpool have offered the forward a two-year deal with terms that are close to meeting Salah’s demands, although some small details are yet to be finalised.
