Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag will hope to see his side kick on when the Premier League returns on Saturday.

The Red Devils welcome high-flying Brentford to Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon, and Ten Hag will be hoping to see his side pick up all three points and move higher than their current 14th-placed position.

The Dutchman has once again found himself under significant pressure in recent weeks, following a poor start to the season for his side, who have won just three of their 11 matches across all competitions.

Now, though, it appears that Ten Hag has been handed a boost over the international break.

According to Football Insider, Ten Hag finds himself in a strong position now compared to prior to the international break.

The 54-year-old’s position at Old Trafford has been the subject of intense speculation at several points during his tenure, and he once again found himself under pressure following the Red Devil’s poor start to the campaign.

Tuchel’s appointment as England boss may have benefitted Ten Hag

It is claimed, though, that the appointment of Thomas Tuchel as England manager has made Ten Hag’s position more secure.

Former England boss Gareth Southgate’s decision to take a year off has also benefitted Ten Hag, it is claimed, as both Southgate and Tuchel had been high on United’s list of potential targets to replace the former Ajax boss.

Despite this, the report does also claim that Ten Hag’s position remains precarious, with Saturday’s game against Brentford potentially pivotal to his future.

United have endured their worst ever start to a Premier League season, recording a worse start than last term which previously held the record.

Those in charge of the club are said to have had meetings in recent weeks to discuss the Dutchman’s future, but they have decided at present to stick with Ten Hag until further notice.
