Manchester City will look to arrest their poor run of form when they host Tottenham Hotspur after the international break.

Pep Guardiola’s side have lost four games on the bounce across all competitions, including two Premier League matches.

That has allowed Liverpool to open up a five-point lead at the top of the Premier League table, with second-placed City chasing a record-breaking fifth consecutive English top flight title.

Manager Pep Guardiola may look to strengthen his squad when the transfer window reopens in January, particularly in the wake of midfielder Rodri’s season-ending injury.

The Spaniard has also had to deal with other issues, such as speculation surrounding the futures of Ederson and Kevin De Bruyne, the latter of whom is in the final year of his contract with the club.

Guardiola himself is in the final year of his current contract with City, but it appears that he could soon sign a new deal.

Guardiola’s side have lost four consecutive matches

As per Football Insider, Guardiola has reached an agreement in principle to extend his deal with the Premier League champions.

The 53-year-old is widely regarded as one of the best managers of all time and had been linked with the England job prior to Thomas Tuchel’s appointment as the Three Lions’ new head coach.

Guardiola joined City in the summer of 2016 and has since guided his side to no fewer than 18 trophies, including six Premier League titles and the club’s first ever Champions League.

The report claims that Guardiola has agreed to extend his stay at The Etihad by a further 12 months, with his proposed new deal set to expire in 2026.

That would mean a decade-long spell in Manchester For Guardiola, who previously lifted the Champions League twice as manager of Barcelona.

It is claimed that the deal is ‘99% done’ after recent negotiations.
