Ralf Rangnick will depart Manchester United later this month having guided the Red Devils to their lowest ever Premier League points tally.

United can finish no higher than the eighth place that they currently occupy, and even victory against Crystal Palace on the final day of the season will take their total to 61 points, three less than the amount they managed over the course of the 2013/14 season.

Many of the United players have performed well below par this term, and the club is preparing for a huge overhaul when Erik ten Hag arrives to succeed Rangnick next month.

The likes of Jesse Lingard, Paul Pogba and Juan Mata will all depart the club upon the expiry of their respective contracts, and a number of players have been linked with moves to Old Trafford.

One player who won’t be leaving, though, is Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese has reportedly told his teammates that he will remain at the club for another year if Ten Hag wants him, according to The Sun.

Ronaldo now looks likely to stay with United for another season

Ronaldo signed a two-year deal when he returned to the club last summer, but has been heavily linked with a move away after reportedly becoming frustrated at United’s season.

Now, though, it appears that the 37-year-old, who has undoubtedly been United’s player of the season, will stay in Manchester.

Having scored more goals than any other United player, it seems certain that Ten Hag will be keen to keep hold of the Red Devils’ talisman.

So far the forward has scored 24 goals in 39 games across all competitions, and has saved United’s blushes on several occasions.

The ex-Real Madrid man scored late goals against Atalanta and Villarreal in the Champions League, and also scored a hat-trick to earn victory over Tottenham.
