Manchester City cruised through to the fourth round of the FA Cup with a resounding 8-0 victory over Salford City on Saturday.

Much of the talk in the build up to the game been around the involvement of the ‘Class of ’92’ at Salford, but City soon set about booking their place in round four when Jeremy Dock put the hosts ahead at The Etihad.

Ddbutant Divin Mubama then doubled their lead, before Nico O’Reilly added a third.

Jack Grealish made it 4-0 from the penalty spot shortly after the break, and a James McAtee hat-trick, as well as a second for Doku, completed the rout.

In the wake of the match, manager Pep Guardiola has revealed that one of City’s most experienced players has asked to leave the club.

As reported by BBC Sport, Guardiola revealed that full-back Kyle Walker has asked to leave the club in search of a move abroad.

“Two days ago Kyle asked to explore the option to play abroad,” Guardiola said.

“He went to Txiki Begiristain. For that reason I prefer to play (players) whose mind is here.”

Walker, 34, has enjoyed huge success since joining City from Tottenham Hotspur in 2017, but he has been in poor form this term.

Walker has asked to leave Manchester City

The England international’s dip in form has coincided with City’s poor run in the Premier League, and speculation had been rife that the right-back could depart The Etihad sooner rather than later.

Walker – who wasn’t involved in Saturday’s win over Salford – is contracted to City until the end of the 2025/26 campaign.

The defender has made more than 300 appearances for the Citizens across all competitions, winning a total of 17 trophies including six Premier League titles and the Champions League.

He has played 18 times across all competitions this season, captaining City on several occasions, but it appears that his time in Manchester may soon come to an end.
