Arsenal return to Premier League action when they face reigning champions Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners kept alive their title hopes with a dramatic 1-0 win over Wolves last time out, but they face another stern test when they host the Citizens on Sunday.

Manager Mikel Arteta is on the hunt for attacking reinforcements following the news that Gabriel Jesus will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a cruciate ligament injury, and it appears that the North London side have been handed a boost in their pursuit of a Bundesliga star.

According to TBR Football, Bayern Munich attacker Mathys Tel is ‘excited’ by the prospect of a move to the Premier League.

The 19-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from Bavaria this month and is said to have now decided to depart Bayern.

Tottenham Hotspur had made the Frenchman their top attacking transfer target, but the report claims that Arsenal, Manchester United and Aston Villa have all now held talks about a potential move for the player.

Tel has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs

Tel joined Bayern from French side Rennes in 2022 and has since played 83 times for the club across all competitions, scoring 16 goals and registering seven assists.

The France youth international is said to be ‘flattered’ by interest from clubs in the English top flight, which is now said to be his most likely destination if he does depart Bayern before the end of the transfer window.

Chelsea – who had initially shown interest in Tel – are said to be aware that they are unlikely to lure the player to Stamford Bridge as they cannot give him the guarantees he desires.

Tel is a versatile attacker capable of playing on the left flank or centrally as a striker, and that may appeal to Premier League sides.
