Liverpool cruised to a 3-0 win over rivals Manchester United on Sunday to continue their strong start to the Premier League season.

Mohamed Salah was the star of the show for Arne Slot’s side, assisting Luis Diaz twice before scoring the Reds’ third goal himself in the second half.

After the game at Old Trafford, the Egyptian claimed that the game was his ‘last’ at Old Trafford and also dropped the bombshell that this would be his ‘last season’ on Merseyside.

According to Football Insider, though, Salah’s interview with the media after the game is actually part of a plan to build his profile and prompt Liverpool into offering him a new contract.

Salah, 32, has been heavily linked with a move away from Anfield over the past 18 months, and he was the subject of a huge £150 million offer from Saudi Arabia last summer.

Salah scored his 214th goal for Liverpool during their win over Man United on Sunday

Now in the final year of his current contract, the Egypt international faces an extremely uncertain future but the report claims that he is in fact hopeful of being offered a new deal.

Salah joined the Reds from Italian side Roma in 2017 and has since achieved remarkable success on Merseyside, scoring 214 goals and providing 92 assists in 352 games for the club across all competitions.

It is claimed that the player wants to stay put at Anfield beyond the end of the current season, as he wishes to continue breaking records and establish himself as a legend at the club.

At present, the forward is believed to earn a staggering £350,000-per-week but the report claims that he doesn’t want to accept a pay decrease as he enters his mid-30s.
