Chelsea will have Under-21s head coach Calum MacFarlane in charge when they visit Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The Blues parted ways with Enzo Maresca on New Year’s Day, with the Italian departing after less than two years in charge at Stamford Bridge.

Strasbourg boss Liam Rosenior is widely expected to succeed Maresca at the helm in SW6, with the French side under the same ownership group as the Blues, which could make negotiations slightly simpler.

While nothing has yet been confirmed, it appears almost inevitable that the ex-Brighton and Hove Albion man will take charge of the reigning FIFA Club World Cup champions.

Now, it has also emerged that the former Hull City boss has asked Chelsea to re-sign one of their former players if he takes charge.

As per indykaila News, Rosenior has requested that Chelsea sign defender Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace.

The centre-back is a product of Chelsea’s youth academy but departed the club to join the Eagles in 2021, having made just two senior appearances for the west London outfit.

Since moving to Selhurst Park, Guehi has made more than 180 appearances for the south London outfit and established himself as a key player for both Palace and England.

He is widely regarded as one of the most talented and reliable central defenders in the English top flight, and his form last term attracted the interest of Liverpool over the summer.

The Reds came close to signing the Englishman, but the deal ultimately fell through on deadline day.

Guehi is now in the final six months of his contract with Palace, however, and is expected to depart Selhurst Park this summer.
