Manchester City are eager to beat rivals Chelsea in their attempts to sign France international superstar Paul Pogba this summer, according to Sport (via the Daily Star).

The Premier League giants, who currently sit fourth in the English top-flight standings after their most recent 1-0 defeat to arch rivals Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium, are interested in recruiting Juventus’ central midfielder once the 2015-16 campaign has concluded.

The 23-year-old, who has 29 international caps for his country and is set to star for France at Euro 2016 later this year, has scored eight goals and provided 11 assists in 41 appearances in all competitions for the defending Serie A champions so far this season.

Pogba, who left fellow Premier League side Manchester United for Turin back in July 2012, is understood to be Man City’s top transfer target under new incoming manager Pep Guardiola this summer.

The report suggests that the Frenchman’s services could cost potential suitors around £75m, after rivals Chelsea reportedly had a £70m bid turned down for Pogba last summer.
