Manchester United face 20th-placed Sheffield United when they return to Premier League action on Saturday.

The Red Devils currently sit tenth in the top flight table, having won just four of their eight games so far in the competition.

Manager Erik ten Hag will be desperate for his side to improve in the coming weeks, but United face reigning champions Manchester City in their next Premier League game after visiting Bramall Lane.

United will likely be without central defender Lisandro Martinez for the game against the Blades, and it appears that the club’s injury problems have prompted those in charge to look for reinforcements.

According to Football Insider, the Manchester outfit are interested in signing Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.

The 23-year-old is a regular for the Eagles and has established himself as one of the best central defenders in the Premier League in recent months.

Guehi has emerged as a target for Manchester United

Having joined Palace from Chelsea back in 2021, the Englishman has now made more than 90 appearances for his current club.

The report claims that United are one of several clubs monitoring the former Blues man, who captained the Eagles last time out as they drew 0-0 with Nottingham Forest.

Liverpool, Newcastle United, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are also all said to have shown an interest in the centre-back during recent transfer windows.

Despite failing to make a single senior appearance for Chelsea, Guehi is believed to have cost Palace around £20 million when they signed him two years ago.

He is now believed to earn around £50,000-per-week, with his current contract running until 2026.

So far this season he has made nine appearances across all competitions, and he has also established himself as a regular in England squads since making his senior international debut back in March.
