Manchester United could land Argentina international forward Mauro Icardi this summer, according to Calciomercato (via Tuttosport).

The 13-time Premier League champions; who currently sit fifth in the standings, six points behind fourth placed Manchester City, have been linked with potential moves for the Inter Milan striker during previous transfer windows.

The 22-year-old, who made his international debut back in October 2013, has scored ten goals in 21 league games for the Serie A giants so far this season.

Icardi, who arrived at the San Siro from Italian rivals Sampdoria back in the summer of 2013, could be sold by Roberto Mancini’s side at the end of the current 2015-16 campaign if they fail to qualify for next term’s UEFA Champions League.

Inter are currently fourth in Serie A, one point behind Fiorentina, who occupy third spot and the final qualification place for next season’s most elite European competition.

The report suggest that if Mancini’s men do not finish in the top three come the end of the campaign, the Italian would accept an offer of around £35m for striker Icardi from Louis van Gaal’s Red Devils.
