Chelsea have reportedly been handed a boost in their pursuit of Italy international forward Antonio Candreva, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The defending Premier League champions, who defeated London rivals Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, have been linked with luring the Inter Milan winger to Stamford Bridge before the close of the summer transfer window next Thursday (August 31).

The 30-year-old, who has 47 international caps for the Azzurri, played the full 90 minutes in his side’s 3-0 Serie A win over Fiorentina on Sunday.

Candreva, who only arrived at the San Siro last August on a four-year deal following his move from Italian rivals Lazio, has scored eight goals and provided 11 assists in all competitions for Inter overall.

However, the report suggests the club are considering selling the right winger before next week’s deadline, as Inter look to generate funds in a bid to land fellow midfielder Suso from arch-rivals AC Milan.

Candreva has netted 54 goals in Serie A overall, having played for the likes of Inter, Lazio, Cesena, Parma, Udinese, Juventus and Livorno.
