Chelsea will hop to build on their win against Wolves when they face Premier League champions Manchester City at the Etihad on Sunday.

The Blues had failed to win in five consecutive league games over the festive period, but returned to winning ways with a relatively straightforward 3-1 win over Wolves at Stamford Bridge on Monday.

Enzo Maresca’s first game in charge of Chelsea was against City – where he previously worked under Pep Guardiola – on the opening weekend of the season.

City ran out 2-0 winners on that occasion and, although Guardiola’s side have since lost six times in the Premier League, they returned to winning ways with a 6-0 victory over Ipswich Town on Sunday.

Off the pitch, the transfer window is fast approaching its deadline, and it appears that an Italian side are chasing one of Chelsea’s squad players.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Serie A side Juventus have submitted a loan offer for versatile defender Renato Veiga.

Veiga is a target for Italian side Juventus

The Portuguese only joined Chelsea from Swiss side Basel last year, but he has been heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in recent weeks.

Veiga is keen to play as a central defender but has primarily been used at left-back or in midfield by Maresca.

The Portugal international has played 18 times across all competitions so far this season, including seven Premier League games.

Romano claims that Juventus are currently ahead of German giants Borussia Dortmund in the race to sign Veiga, while an unnamed third club have also shown interest.

Juventus are said to be keen to sign Veiga on loan but won’t consider a deal that includes an obligation-to-buy the Portugal defender.

Veiga’s current contract with Chelsea isn’t set to expire until the end of the 2030/31 season, with the player having signed a long-term contract with the West London outfit when he joined last summer.
