Manchester City will begin the defence of their Premier League title with a visit to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea.

Pep Guardiola’s side became the first team in English top flight history to win four consecutive titles last term, and the Spaniard will be desperate to extend that record next season.

Chelsea, meanwhile, will start the new campaign with a new man in charge, with former Man City assistant manager Enzo Maresca now in charge of the Blues following the departure of Mauricio Pochettino at the end of last season.

The Italian departed The Etihad last summer to join Leicester City, and guided the Foxes back to the top flight after their relegation the previous year.

Now, it appears that one of City’s players could leave the club this summer.

As per journalist Matteo Moretto, Italian side Roma have enquired about City left-back Sergio Gomez, asking about the terms of a potential deal.

It is claimed that Spanish side Real Sociedad are also interested in the 23-year-old, who has struggled to establish himself as a regular for Guardiola’s side.

Gomez joined the Citizens from Belgian side Anderlecht in the summer of 2022, and has since made 38 appearances for the club across all competitions, providing two assists.

Despite his ability on the left side of defence, Guardiola has often opted to play centre-backs such as Nathan Ake or Josko Gvardiol as makeshift left-backs, ahead of Gomez.

The former Spain under-21 international is contracted to City until the end of the 2025/26 campaign, but it appears increasingly likely that he will depart The Etihad prior to that date.
