Manchester United face Fulham in the opening match of the new Premier League season on Friday.

The Red Devils were beaten on penalties by rivals Manchester City in the Community Shield on Saturday, and manager Erik ten Hag will therefore be desperate to see his side return to winning ways and start the new league campaign positively.

The Dutchman has bolstered his squad so far this summer, with Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthojs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui all arriving at Old Trafford.

Full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka became the most recent player to depart the Manchester club on Tuesday, but it appears that another United player could soon be on his way out.

According to The Mirror’s David Anderson, Italian outfit Napoli have expressed ‘firm interest’ in United midfielder Scott McTominay.

The Scot is a product of United’s youth academy and has been a mainstay of the first team squad for several seasons now.

In total the 27-year-old has played more than 250 times for United across all competitions, including 43 appearances last term, but Anderson claims that the Scotland international will be allowed to leave for the right price.

The central midfielder’s current contract with Man United has less than a year remaining, meaning that this summer could represent the club’s last chance to cash in on the player.

If not, he would be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with any foreign club in January before leaving the club as a free agent next summer.
