All systems are go at Old Trafford as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is building a lethal squad to challenge Manchester City.

United recorded their best finish under the Norwegian boss last season, finishing runners-up in the Premier League and in the Europa League.

While they are yet to lift any silverware since Jose Mourinho’s first season at Old Trafford, which saw them lift the League Cup and the Europa League, United are certainly moving in the right direction.

They are expected to announce the signing of Jadon Sancho and they are also confident a deal to sign Raphael Varane from Real Madrid can be reached.

However, United are also bracing themselves as it is reported by the Daily Star that Mourinho is very interested in signing left-back Alex Telles for Roma.

The Brazilian defender signed for the Red Devils from Porto last season, however, Luke Shaw’s outstanding form limited Telles to just 27 appearances in all competitions.

At 28, Telles is a very experienced and impressive defender and, considering he is in his prime years, it is unlikely he will be content with playing second fiddle to Shaw for a second year.

Mourinho is looking to build a Roma team that can challenge for the Serie A title, and he has already secured the signing of Wolves goalkeeper Rui Patricio.

He is also looking to add extra steel to his midfield with the likes of Granit Xhaka reportedly topping his shopping list.

While Telles is a very skilled defender, United still have youngster Brandon Williams in the wings as cover for left-back, meaning he could be allowed to move on.
