FC Barcelona are reportedly plotting a surprise £14m bid for Netherlands international defender Daley Blind, according to the Daily Mail.
The La Liga champions have been linked with a summer swoop for the Manchester United centre-half, who could be available for transfer following the arrival of former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho as manager ahead of the 2016/17 campaign.
The 26-year-old, who has 36 international caps for his country, scored two goals and provided three assists in 56 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils under Louis van Gaal this season.
Blind, who arrived at Old Trafford back in September 2014 from Eredivisie side Ajax in a deal worth around £13.8m, formed an impressive defensive partnership with England international Chris Smalling throughout the 2015/16 term.
Being able to operate at centre-half or in central midfield is seen as something beneficial by Barca manager Luis Enrique, who could offer him a way out of United should Mourinho decide to axe him from his first-team plans.
