Serie A could be the next destination for Juan Mata as Juventus look to land the Manchester United man on a free transfer, according to the Evening Standard.

The Italian champions have made a good habit of recruiting top performers for nothing, with Dani Alves, Patrice Evra, Emre Can and Sami Khedria all joining for no fee.

Jose Mourinho has hinted that he is keen to keep the Spanish duo of both Mata and Ander Herrera but with his Number 8 free to talk to clubs in the New Year, the Ex-Chelsea man’s future is certainly not set in stone.

The attacking midfielder has rarely been able to hold down a regular place in the United XI since his arrival in 2014, often being used out wide.

However, he has remained a fan favourite throughout his time at Old Trafford and has often looked like the Red Devils’ most creative force this season despite their mixed results.

Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri will be looking to poach Mata if contract talks continue to stall.

It will not just be Juventus who will see the 30-year-old as an option as a return to Valencia has also been reported.

Time is certainly ticking for Mourinho and his staff with the next two months an important time for both the club and player.
