While Arne Slot has made an impressive start to life as Liverpool manager, the Dutchman still faces a number of obstacles off the field.

Key players Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are all currently in the final year of their respective contracts, meaning all three players could potentially leave Anfield as free agents next summer.

Those in charge of the club, including Slot, will be desperate to ensure that the trio all stay put on Merseyside, but it appears that one of the players is already in talks about a move away.

As per CaughtOffside, Salah’s representatives have already started discussions with Saudi Arabian Pro League side Al-Ahli about a potential move for the Egyptian next year.

The 32-year-old was the subject of a huge £150 million offer from fellow Pro League outfit Al-Ittihad last summer, but the Reds rejected the bid.

Salah has around ten months remaining on his current contract

It had been rumoured that Al-Ittihad would reignite their interest, but instead rivals Al-Ahli are attempting to agree a deal for the forward.

Salah joined Liverpool from Italian side Roma seven years ago, and he has since established himself as one of the world’s best players.

In total he has netted a remarkable 217 times in 358 games for the Reds across all competitions, as well as providing 94 assists.

He has started the new season in fine form, netting six times and registering five assists in nine games.

While Salah’s priority is said to be staying put at Anfield, the report does also suggest that the player has refused to rule out the possibility of a move to the Middle East.

Al-Ahli are also said to be keeping tabs on Reds captain Van Dijk, with a view to potentially signing the Dutchman when his contract expires next summer.
