Liverpool are reportedly set to step up their interest in Netherlands international forward Quincy Promes according to the Mirror.

The Premier League side, who host Stoke City at Anfield on Tuesday night (17:15), have targeted the Spartak Moscow winger after seemingly missing out on Germany international Julian Draxler, who has agreed a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

The 24-year-old, who has 16 international caps for his country, has scored six goals and provided seven assists in 17 appearances in all competitions for the Russian outfit so far this season.

Promes, who began his senior career at Eredivisie side FC Twente, is wanted by Reds boss Jurgen Klopp next month as fellow winger Sadio Mane is poised for Africa Cup of Nations duty with Senegal, whilst midfielder Philippe Coutinho is still recovering from ankle ligament damage.

The report suggests that having missed out on Wolfsburg star Draxler’s signature, the Dutch forward is next on Liverpool’s New Year wishlist, who has scored an impressive 37 goals in 78 games overall for Spartak Moscow since joining the club back in August 2014.

Promes has a release clause of around £20m.
