Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund are reportedly set to go head-to-head in a bid to sign Germany Under-21 international ace Mahmoud Dahoud, according to Bild.

The Premier League side, who currently sit top of the English top-flight standings after their opening 11 league games, one point ahead of Chelsea, and two above Manchester City and Arsenal, have been continually linked with a future move for the Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder.

The 20-year-old, who has featured six times for Germany’s Under-21 squad, has provided two assists in 10 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit so far this season.

Dahoud, who was originally born in Syria, graduated through Monchengladbach’s youth ranks and is now highly regarded as one of Germany’s top prospects.

The report suggests Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is set to battle his former club Dortmund in a bid to win the central midfielder’s signature, despite Dahoud being contracted to the Borussia-Park outfit until the summer of 2018.
