Tim Krul is a shock transfer target for Chelsea.

According to a report in The Guardian the keeper is being viewed as a back-up to Thibaut Courtois which would allow the Premier League leaders to sell Asmir Begovic to Bournemouth.

Krul has fully recovered from injury but is currently on loan at Ajax where he as only made a handful of appearances in the reserve league.

The Dutchman would jump at the chance of joining Chelsea on loan and the chance to put himself back in the spotlight after a nightmare time with injuries.

Antonio Conte is happy to sell Begovic but will only do so if he has a suitable replacement lined up.

Krul’s profile is very similar to the former Stoke keeper, at 28-years of age he has a wealth of Premier League and international experience.

Newcastle are well off for keepers at the moment and would welcome the chance for Krul to get back to England to prove his fitness and a potential transfer fee in the summer.
