Manchester United have reportedly had a bid of around £110 million for Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix rejected by the Spanish club.

As reported in Spain, The Red Devils’ search for attacking reinforcements has lead them to the Portuguese star, who set up all three of Atletico’s goals in their 3-0 win over Getafe on Monday.

The bid has reportedly been rejected by the La Liga side, who made Felix the fourth most expensive player of all time when they signed him for a fee just shy of £115 million back in 2019.

In the wake of United’s audacious bid, comments from Felix about his international teammates who play for the club have resurfaced.

Back in February, the 22-year-old discussed playing against his compatriots, including Bruno Fernandes, after Atletico were drawn against United in the Champions League.

“It is very good to play against your friends,” he told The Athletic.

“It is always fun, like we are playing in the garden.

“With Bruno [Fernandes], we exchanged messages when the draw was made. Bruno is a very, very good player. It is very easy to play with him.

“When he has the ball, he always chooses the best option, to give you a chance to score. That is why he gets a lot of assists.”

Felix also plays with both Cristiano Ronaldo and Diogo Dalot at international level, and he has also previously spoken about the impact of the former.

“Cristiano is a role model for all of us in the national team, so he gives us a lot of good advice, and we like to listen.” he said.

This is not the first time that United have shown an interest in the player, although if he were to move to Manchester this summer, it would likely be because Ronaldo had been granted his wish to leave the club.
