Player of the Month: Will Grigg (Wigan Athletic)

Latics striker Grigg is a prolific scorer at League One level and his goals this season have played a major part in his side’s winning of the title.

Wigan were already looking very strong at the start of the month, but Grigg’s haul of seven goals in six games has helped to seal his team’s promotion at the first attempt following last term’s relegation.

The former MK Dons loanee netted a brace in both the 5-1 thrashing of Shrewsbury and a comfortable 4-1 win at home to Southend. Grigg also scored the winner against Coventry, one of four goals in the win at Blackpool and another in the surprise defeat at Doncaster.

On 24 goals now, the Northern Ireland international looks set to finish as League One’s top goalscorer.

Manager of the Month: Graham Alexander (Scunthorpe United)

Alexander has enjoyed an excellent start as Iron gaffer, having guided his side to six wins and a draw from eight matches so far.

26 May 2014 - Sky Bet League Two Play Off Final - Burton Albion v Fleetwood Town - Fleetwood Town manager Graham Alexander celebrates with the trophy.

Former Fleetwood Town boss Alexander was appointed manager of fellow League One side Scunthorpe United back on March 22, 2016.

Scunthorpe actually began the month with a narrow 1-0 defeat against promotion-chasing Bradford City, but proceeded to follow this up with five straight victories, a run that has propelled them up to seventh place, with one match remaining.

With sixth placed Barnsley travelling to champions Wigan on Sunday, the Iron must fancy their chances of sneaking an unlikely play-off spot by getting a positive result in their final game at Sheffield United.

Goal of the Month: Conor McAleny (Shrewsbury Town vs WIGAN ATHLETIC)
