Player of the Month: Jon Stead (Notts County)

The 33-year-old striker has enjoyed something of a career renaissance at Meadow Lane this season and ends September as the division’s joint-leading goalscorer.

Of his nine finishes this term, five have come in his last three games, including a brace in County’s 3-2 win against Cheltenham Town and both goals in their 2-0 victory against Exeter City.

Stead may appear to be in the twilight of his playing career, but is showing no sign of slowing down, quite the opposite in fact.

County occupy fifth place in League Two and if Stead continues his early season form, there is no reason they can’t stay amongst the runners and riders for the whole of the 2016/17 campaign.

Manager of the Month – Derek Adams (Plymouth Argyle)

Argyle seemed to suffer something of a hangover from last season’s play-off final defeat at the start of this campaign, losing to both Luton Town and Carlisle United without scoring a goal.

Since then though, Derek Adams’ men have hardly put a foot wrong, going eight games unbeaten, scoring in each and every one and ending the month with a five-point lead at the top of the table.

It’s been their best start to a season for 65 years. While it may be true that their fixtures have been against sides in the division’s bottom half, it’s equally true that you can only beat what’s in front of you and Argyle’s joint biggest win came in a tough local derby away to rivals Exeter.

Having gone out with something of a wimper in the last two play-off campaigns, Adams will be looking to maintain Argyle’s current form in order to try and seal a top three finish.

Goal of the Month: Colin Daniel (Yeovil Town vs BLACKPOOL)
