Plymouth Argyle have now made their best start to a league campaign in 65 years, as they comfortably brushed aside rivals Exeter City 2-0 in the Devon derby in League Two.

On-loan Bristol City striker Paul Garita was the hero for the Pilgrims, after setting up Graham Carey for the game’s opener inside six minutes, the Cameroon-born striker doubled the visitors’ lead with a powerful run and finish.

Yeovil Town put an end to their five-match losing streak with a 1-0 victory at Leyton Orient. Tom Eaves scored the winner with just under quarter-of-an-hour to go, as he rose the highest to head home Otis Khan’s corner.

Notts County narrowly beat Cheltenham Town 3-2 away from home in one of the Football League’s best games from the weekend’s action.

Jonathan Forte put the Magpies in front in the fourth minute, but the hosts hit back through Danny Wright. Jon Stead then put the visitors 2-1 up, before Harry Bell’s effort had the home fans jumping for joy. But less than 60 seconds after the Robins equalised, Stead netted his second of the game and most importantly the ultimate winner.

Blackpool came from two goals down to draw 2-2 at home to Carlisle United. Charlie Wyke and Michael Raynes thought they had wrapped up the points for the Cumbrians, yet Armand Gnanduillet had other ideas as he crossed for Kyle Vassell to pull one back, before heading in the equaliser on 74 minutes.

Crawley Town won for the first time in five league matches as beat Luton Town 2-0 at home. James Collins and Enzio Boldewijn netted either side of half-time to seal all three points for the Red Devils.

Wycombe Wanderers won for only the second time in the league this campaign as they overcame Stevenage 1-0 at home. The Chairboys’ winner came from Dayle Southwell, who expertly applied the finish from Sam Wood’s cross.

Doncaster Rovers have now climbed up to second in League Two after a 2-0 victory over Newport County. James Coppinger’s wonderful free-kick opened the scoring, before Andy Williams doubled the promotion favourites’ advantage with just over half-an-hour remaining.

Accrington Stanley defeated Portsmouth 1-0, thanks to a marvellous goal from Paddy Lacey, just six minutes into the second-half. The central midfielder received the ball 20-yards from goal, before turning and striking a spectacular effort into the top right-hand corner.

Barnet rescued a point at home to Colchester United following a 82nd minute equaliser as the game finished 1-1. Tariq Fosu-Henry had put the U’s in front after just six minutes, but the Bees fans had to wait nervously before they eventually levelled the score, as Curtis Weston turned the ball over the line following a goal-mouth scramble.

Morecambe came from a goal behind to win 2-1 at Cambridge United. Piero Mingoia gave the hosts the lead, after some terrible defending and poor clearances, the ball fell kindly to the midfielder who drove the ball into the bottom left-hand corner. But, the visitors hit back with strikes from on-loan Liverpool player Jack Dunn and Paul Mullin shortly after the break.

Crewe Alexandra scored late in each half as they won 2-0 at newly promoted Grimsby Town. George Cooper put the Railwaymen ahead on the stroke of half-time and James Jones doubled their advantage with just five minutes remaining.

And finally, Hartlepool United drew 0-0 at home to Mansfield Town, as Pool’s wait for their first home league win of the season continued.
