Oxford United lost out on the chance to put pressure on the top-two after they were held 2-2 at home by promotion rivals Mansfield.

It was the visitors who took the lead through former United player Matt Green, but a brace from Danny Hylton put the U’s ahead. Jack Thomas was the hero for Town though, as his 89th minute strike earned the draw which keeps the Stags in fourth, just four points behind Michael Appleton’s side in the race for automatic promotion.

Elsewhere, it was another bad day for the teams at the foot of the table as two relegation candidates were both beaten 2-1 at home.

Dagenham and Redbridge remain in the bottom two after defeat by Wycombe.

Josh Passley’s red card in the first half proved costly when Paul Hayes gave the away side the lead in stoppage-time. Wanderers were reduced to ten men themselves early in the second half when Garry Thompson received his marching orders.

The Daggers took advantage and pulled level when Luke Guttridge netted. Paris Cowan-Hall shattered the hosts’ hopes of three points with an almost instant winner to lift Wycombe up to sixth and keep John Still’s side four points from safety.

Hartlepool missed the chance to put some distance between themselves and the drop-zone with defeat to Stevenage.

Two goals from Trevor Carson was enough to earn the Hertfordshire outfit their first win in ten games. Billy Paynter pulled one back but United remain in 22nd, four points above the bottom two.
