Derby County are reportedly reconsidering their pursuit of League Two star Callum O’Dowda this month due to his wage demands, according to the Daily Mail.

The Championship outfit, who were convincingly beaten 3-0 by Birmingham City on Saturday, have been heavily linked with a £1m move for the highly-rated Oxford United during the January transfer window.

The 20-year-old, who is a Republic of Ireland Under-21 international, has scored five and assisted seven goals in 31 appearances in all competitions for Michael Appleton’s League Two promotion contenders this season.

O’Dowda, who has also been previously linked with Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham, is said to be pushing for weekly wages of £10,000-a-week in order to join Paul Clement’s Rams.

Championship rivals Birmingham City are also said to be in the mix should Derby’s pursuit stall.
