Leeds United’s move for Sunderland midfielder Liam Bridcutt is hanging in the balance.

The Black Cats agreed to let the 26-year-old join the Championship club on loan until January, but now boss Sam Allardyce says he’s “confused” as to what’s going on after the Whites failed to complete the deal due to the ongoing uncertainty over a proposed takeover.

Bridcutt, who impressed in the second-tier with Brighton, has now returned to training on Wearside.

The ex-Chelsea youngster has failed to hold down a first-team place since Gus Poyet was sacked in March.
