It has been a strange few weeks at Championship side Leeds United, with the optimism of Andrea Radrizzani’s takeover met with disappointment at the resignation of manager Garry Monk.

The Italian businessman Radrizzani completed his full takeover of the Yorkshire outfit at the end of May, yet just two days later 38-year-old Monk announced that he would be stepping down from his role as manager after failing to agree a new long-term deal at the club.

This all after the former Swansea boss led the Whites to their best Championship finish since 2011, ending the season in seventh place and just five points adrift of the play-off places.

And although there was frustration that they were unable to secure a top six berth given they were placed there for much of 2017, it was widely recognised that Monk had brought stability to a club serious lacking it in recent times.

Yet he is no longer in charge at Elland Road, and in fact recent reports suggests that he is on the verge of being appointed as Middlesbrough manager.

The North East side were relegated from the Premier League last term after a deeply disappointing campaign, which saw them finish 19th in the table and 12 points adrift of safety.

Yet it appears that they are turning to former Leeds boss Monk to help them secure an immediate return to the top-flight, and it’s news which has stimulated quite the response from Whites supporters on Twitter.

And it’s fair to say that they aren’t overly complementary of the 38-year-old ahead of his imminent appointment at the Riverside Stadium…
