Leeds United supporters were stunned into shock earlier this week when news came out that manager Garry Monk had resigned from his post.

The 38-year-old led the Yorkshire outfit to seventh place in the Championship in his first season at the club, their highest league finish since 2011, and highest points tally (75) in the second tier since 2006.

And although there was some disappointment given they missed out on a top six place, especially as they were in the play-off positions for much of 2017, it was widely seen that Monk had done a great job at Elland Road, although his tenure came to an end this week after failing to agree a new deal.

And attentions have already turned to who might take over from the former Swansea boss, with several names such as Aitor Karanka, Walter Mazzarri, Alan Pardew, and Nigel Pearson being banded around the media.

And there was one name in particular which stimulated quite the response from Leeds on Twitter, that of 65-year-old Claudio Ranieri.

The Italian has been out of work since being sacked by Leicester in February, less than nine months after guiding the Foxes to the most incredible of Premier League title successes.

And despite being responsible for one of the most remarkable stories in sport last year, Leeds fans seem split on the idea of the former Chelsea, Inter Milan, and Juventus boss taking over at Elland Road.

Some are sold on the idea…

Whereas some just aren’t…
