Tony Pulis wants to avoid getting a tribunal to value Charlie Taylor.

According to a report in the Yorkshire Evening Post the West Brom boss would rather discuss a price with Leeds rather than face the lottery of a tribunal decision.

Taylor is out of contract but at the age of 23 Leeds are entitled to a fee for the seasons spent developing the defender through the ranks.

Since there is no formula in place to come up with a valuation clubs are wary of a binding decision being made.

Pulis said: “It (a compensation award) could go to a tribunal but our club would rather try and sort a deal out with Leeds if we’re going to do it, instead of going to tribunal.

Leeds have been resigned to losing Taylor but are determined to get the maximum price with the player in the dog house after refusing to play in the final Championship match of the season against Wigan.

As well as West Brom a number of other Premier League clubs are interested in Taylor but until Leeds name a price it looks like the saga will continue.
