Managerless Leeds United are one of three Championship teams in the running to land Manchester City youngster Bersant Celina this summer, according to the man himself via NRK.

The 20-year-old midfielder moved to the Etihad Stadium back in 2012 and spent two years as a scholar, before signing professional terms in 2014, and then earning his first team debut two years later in their FA Cup third round win at Norwich.

Since then, Celina has only managed three more appearances for the Citizens, one of which coming in the Premier League, and recently enjoyed a loan spell in the Netherlands with FC Twente, where he played 27 times and scored five goals and laid on five assists for the Dutch outfit.

And it appears that he may well be going on loan again next season, and the man himself, when asked whether he’d be signing for one of Bolton Wanderers, Ipswich Town, or Leeds United this summer, admitted just as much.

He said via Sport Witness: ‘The plan is to play in the Championship.

‘I’ll try to find a club. It will be one of them. So, we’ll see.’

These comments are sure to interest all three clubs, who will be looking to improve their respective squads ahead of the new Championship season, which will start on the weekend of August 5.

Leeds will be hoping to go one better than their seventh place finish last term by reaching the play-off places, and bringing in a talented youngster like Celina could be exactly what they need to get over the line.

However, it remains to be seen which of the three sides are able to get a deal done with City over the summer.
