Leeds United are still hopeful of pulling off a deadline day deal for Premier League striker Kyle Lafferty, according to the International Business Times.

The Championship side have been heavily linked with a move for the Euro 2016 qualification star, who bagged seven goals for Northern Ireland ahead of this summer’s tournament.

The 28-year-old, who has 44 international caps for his country, has played just 13 minutes of league action for Norwich City this season.

The Whites were in talks with the Canaries over a loan move for Lafferty during the early stages of last month, but boss Steve Evans has since focused on strengthening in alternative positions at the Elland Road outfit.

But after the Northern Irishman recently rejected a move to Switzerland side FC Sion, Norwich boss Alex Neil believes the door is still open for Lafferty to make a last-ditch deadline day departure from Carrow Road.
