Leeds United are reportedly weighing up a summer swoop for highly-rated Finland Under-19 international defender Aapo Halme, according to HITC Sport.

The Championship side, who fought back to secure a 3-3 draw against Norwich City at Elland Road at the weekend, have been linked with the Helsingin Jalkapalloklubi centre-half ahead of the 2017-18 campaign.

The 18-year-old, who has seven caps for Finland’s Under-19 side, has scored one goal in 23 first-team appearances for the Veikkausliiga outfit since making his debut against FF Jaro back in September 2015.

Halme, who has been likened to former Finland legend and ex-Liverpool defender Sami Hyypia, stands incredibly tall at 6ft 8in.

Having also netted his first senior goal against JJK last month, the Finn’s impressive performances have alerted The Whites to his availability this summer.

However, the report suggests Ajax, Hoffenheim and Sassuolo are all also interested in Halme’s services.

Garry Monk’s Leeds visit Wigan Athletic this Sunday in their final 2016-17 Championship fixture, although the visitors trail the play-offs by three points, plus sixth-placed Fulham’s goal difference is far greater (+13).
