Leicester City have confirmed the signing of striker Kelechi Iheanacho from Manchester City for an undisclosed fee.

The Foxes, who finished 12th in the Premier League last term, just one year on from their fairy tale title triumph of 2015-16, have landed the Nigeria international forward on a five-year contract and handed him the number eight shirt.

The 20-year-old scored 21 goals in 64 first-team appearances for City since making his debut against Watford back in August 2015.

Iheanacho, who becomes Leicester’s fifth summer signing following the fellow arrivals of Sam Hughes (Chester), Harry Maguire (Hull City), Vicente Iborra (Sevilla) and Eldin Jakupovic (Hull City) at the King Power Stadium, is understood to have cost the club £25m (Sky Sports).

Leicester’s latest addition Iheanacho celebrating for Manchester City last season.

Iheanacho, who could make his Foxes bow against Borussia Monchengladbach on Friday night, told LCFC TV, “It feels good and I’m happy to be part of this team.

“I know the ambition of the team and speaking with the manager, he let me know what I need to do – to help the team achieve what they want. I was convinced and I’m happy to be here.

“I was happy speaking with the manager, knowing what the team wants. It gives me more confidence that I will fit in this team and hopefully I’ll achieve a lot.”
